Description
Bloodroot pops up every spring right outside my backdoor and in a few other places around my yard.
That seems like a harsh name for such a pretty, delicate flower. The name comes from the red sap that will ooze from a damaged root. That red sap was used by First Nations People as a dye and insect repellent.
